With the objective of accelerating the national campaign against single use plastic, NTPC Talcher Kaniha is taking proactive measures in its township and adjoining areas. A team of NTPC Kaniha reached out to every shop in its township markets to create awareness on no-plastic use in order to make it a “plastic free zone”. To mobilise the campaign, cotton bags and pamphlets were also distributed to all shops and eateries in order to ensure steady implementation of the ban against plastic.
Shop-sellers were keen to procure cotton bags for their daily business, however they were apprehensive about the lack of sensitivity on the issue among the public. The distribution of cotton bags was hailed as a great effort on behalf of NTPC to make sure that a healthier trend of reusing shopping bags continues in the future.
In addition, NTPC Kaniha has conducted several activities in order to raise awareness regarding no single use plastic which includes elocution and talk by students. The station has reached out to local market committee members in the adjacent areas to sensitise them on cleanliness. Various publicity cloth banners along with digital displays have been displayed in plant and township areas to motivate employees and locals.
