Tripartite Settlement for ex-gratia payment at Ntpc

                                                                                  A triopartite settlement  has been signed in the office of Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central), Angul between the contract labours represented through the Unions, the Contractors represented through their Association namely NTPC Contractors Benevolent Trust before Shri A.K. Mahanta, Regional Labour Commissioner (Central)-cum-Conciliation Officer, Rourkela I/c, Angul on 05.04.2019.As  per the settlement, in case of fatal accident arising out of and in course of employment, ex-gratia benefit of Rs.10.0 lakhs besides Rs.1.0 lakh towards funeral & transport expenses shall be given to the legal heir(s) of the deceased. This ex-gratia benefit is over & above the statutory benefits payable under ESI/ EC Act. Further, one dependent family member of the deceased shall be engaged by the Contractor.All present in the conciliation proceeding committed that there will not be any work stoppage, strike, dharana etc. causing industrial relations situation subsequent to death of any contract labour on duty. Industrial peace will be maintained.The Settlement will be in force for 05 (five) years. Shri Jayasen Meher, Shri Aren Kumar Pani, Shri Bibudhendu Pradhan & Shri Jeetendra Kumar Mohanty signed the settlement on behalf of their Unions whereas Shri Bimal Kumar Hota, Shri Bidyadhar Kumar, Shri Ajay Kumar Kar, Shri Dusmant Kumar Sahoo, Shri Biranchi Narayan Sahoo signed the settlement on behalf of Contractors Association. Jakir Khan, DGM (HR), Shri Jitendra Kumar, Manager (HR), Shri Santosh Kumar Sahoo, Shri Ramachandra Dehury, Shri Anil Kumar Sahoo & Shri Priyabrata Behera were present on the occasion.The settlement has been lauded by the contract labours & employers as one of the best social security and welfare measures for the contract labours.
