At least 26 labourers were rescued by police personnel in Ganjam district when they were allegedly being trafficked to Gujarat on promise of a better livelihood
According to sources, Balipadar police had input that about 26 people from Polsara and Buguda block in the district are being trafficked to Gujarat on the pretext of providing them good jobs. Following this, they were on alert.However, on Saturday, the cops intercepted a bus carrying the labourers. On investigation, police got to know about the trafficking and rescued the labourers.Police detained the bus driver, helper and a middleman for questioning regarding the matter.A case has been registered under relevant Sections of IPC and a probe initiated.
