NTPC Undertakes Safety Initiatives

With an increased focus on Safety, NTPC Talcher Kaniha management is constantly striving to develop improvement in systems through learnings, innovations, and monitoring. In this endeavour, a small campaign for increasing road safety awareness was launched recently among employees and associates in the Station premises. Taking the lead role, Chief General Manager, Shri Sudip Nag initiated in pasting the “My speed limit 20 km/hr” sticker on his vehicle in the presence of Shri N.S. Rao, GM (O&M), Shri S.K Rout, AGM (Safety), and other senior officials.Safety Department is making additional effort to inculcate a safety habit among employees by choosing specified locations to emphasize on the speed limit message. As part of a unique initiative to strengthen safety attitude among employees and workers, every day AGM Safety along with a team of employees and contract workers position them at multiple locations with billboard displays on restricting the Speed Limit to 20 Km/hr to encourage people not to over speed while reporting to duty on time and avoid any untoward incident during the morning rush. Displays on maintaining speed limit at 20km/hr have been put across the Station premises. In addition, the Safety department has also initiated Heavy Vehicle Movement Restriction stickers to further regulate morning rush. Heavy vehicle entry has been restricted between 08.30 am to 09.15 am on Plant roads. Asserting the crucial importance of ensuring safety in the Station, this initiative will benefit not only employees but also contract workers and associates from peripheral areas reporting to the Station for work.
