Police in Odisha Needs HR Training:Women Beaten For Not Wearing Facemask By Police

A woman was injured after being allegedly beaten up by police for not wearing a mask in Cuttack district today evening while police were carrying out checks whether people wore masks or not in Adashapur Bazaar under Kantapada police in the district, the woman was found without mask cover on her face and was carrying her six-year-old son to a nearby health clinic. She pleaded the police personnel to allow her to go and told them that she was not having enough money to pay the fine. But the police put a deaf ear and asked her to pay the fine amount.Finding no option, the woman asked the police personnel to take her mobile phone instead of the fine and allow her to go. But the police personnel did not listen to the woman’s request and beat her up causing injuries on head.Following this, tension erupted in Adashapur Bazaar when locals blocked the Phulnakhara-Niali state highway over the incident.After senior police officials reached the spot and assured the agitators to take action against the police personnel who attacked the woman, locals withdrew the road blockade after three hours.The injured woman has been undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
