World Environment Day Celebrated at NTPC Kaniha
250 saplings planted and Medicinal Plant Garden Inaugurated
World Environment Day was celebrated at NTPC Talcher Super Thermal Power Station, Kaniha on 05.06.2019. Environmental Pledges in Hindi, Odia and English were administered by Shri Ramesh Babu V, CGM , Shri N.S Rao, GM(O&M) and Shri K K Das GM(Fuel Mgmt).
Shri Ramesh Babu , CGM conveyed the message of Director (Operations) on this occasion. In his address he emphasized “to adopt all possible steps to conserve natural resource for the future generation and urged to take all possible steps to keep the mother earth clean, beautiful & pollution free. He shared this year theme is “Air Pollution”. He said this day reminds us menace of pollution. Today air pollution in cities is mainly due to vehicle pollution, keeping in view of this ,NTPC is making a big leap in Electrical Vehicle charging business to promote use of Electrical Vehicles for communication”
Later “Environmental Awareness Walk” was organized to create and spread awareness about conservation of nature followed by Mass Tree Plantation.250 fruit sapling mainly mango & jamun were planted in Stage II township of the power station. The saplings were planted by employees,housewives ,children and CISF personnel which was led by CGM,Talcher Kaniha.
Further a medicinal plant garden was inaugurated on the occasion, 80 no.s of medicinal plants were planted as part of World Environment Day Celebration.Environment Awareness related competitions on Drawing, Essay, Slogan & “Best out of Waste” were also organized on this occasion for various groups of participants.
Shri K S Sarma ,AGM(HR) ,Smt Vani V ,President ,Tanvi Sangam ,other senior officials of NTPC TSTPS, President and members of Tanvi Sangam, representative of Unions & Association were present.
