Gem workshop concludes in Ntpc kaniha

The NTPC’s flagship CSR Girls Empowerment Mission (GEM) was conducted at NTPC Kaniha from May 20 to June 16, 2019 concluded yesterday.
The workshop meant for empowerment of girls.The workshop designed for 120 girl’s students between 10 to 12 years old selected from 13 village schools from neighbouring 34 villages of the power station.
The concluding ceremony began with welcome address by P K Sahu,DGM(HR) which was followed by showcase of video on activities of GEM conducted.
Participants of the workshop performed dances which included a group song on “Bande Utkal Janini” and multi-diversity cultural dance program from various states like West Bengal,Maharashtra ,Karnataka and Tamilnadu which provided a taste of multiple culture to the august audience.
The children under the guidance of GEM faculties performed skid on “Gender inequality” and played a drama on their experiences during the workshop which got thunderous applaud from the audience present.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Ramesh Babu V, Chief General Manager said” the workshop which started with an objective of “empowering girls” has met its expectations. It was a fulling experience to watch the students performing with such confidence. Children have learnt a lot through the curriculum which was designed to empower the girls in every possible way through physical and mental well-being. Students learned yoga, computer, leadership qualities and personal hygiene which has given an overall development of the children and personality development”
On the occasion participants shared their experiences. The workshop has witnessed a phenomenal improvement among rural children. They look more confident which is a big takeaway from the workshop.
This is not the end, a follow up workshop for one week for the participants will be organised during winter holidays of year 2019, which will determine effectiveness of the learning learnt during the workshop.
