With an objective to address the need of the Divyang, the specially abled children, JSPL Foundation has launched one of its flagship initiative ‘Asha the Hope’ Centre at Angul, Odisha which was inaugurated today by the Former Chairperson of National Bal Bhavan and Chairperson of JSPL Foundation Smt. Shallu Jindal, Shri Manoj Kumar Mohanty, Collector & District Magistrate, Angul and Shri Jagmohan Meena, Superintendent of Police, Angul.’ Asha the Hope’ Centre would work for rehabilitation and empowerment of children with special needs and differently abled persons and provide early intervention services such as Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Sensory Integration Therapy, special education for children with intellectually challenged and hearing impaired, Audiometry & Speech therapy.It will also support in providing Artificial Limbs, Assistive & adaptive devices and mobility aids to the specially abled children / persons.Besides, the Centre will organize skill development training, vocation training programmes, music and dance classes, sports activities and community based rehabilitation support.Inaugurating the Centre Collector & District Magistrate of Angul Shri Mohanty, appreciated JSPL Foundation’s commitment for empowering the Specially Abled Persons. “The specialized services provided by the centre would definitely help in making lives of specially abled children and persons better”, he said.SP, Sri Meena said that such an initiative of JSPL Foundation is one such step which can shape up life of the Child for a better tomorrow. Smt. Jindal said, “Asha the Hope is the reflection of JSPL Foundation’s commitments for inclusive development encompassing each needy person In the Community. Asha the Hope Centre at Raigarh has rehabilitated and mainstreamed more than 4500 specially abled Children in last 10 years. Now started similar initiatives in Jharkhand and Angul in Odisha.she also said that in collaboration with the District Administration and the Government we shall succeed to translate the aspiration of the Parents of these Divyang Children in to Reality and mainstream these Children to take life in full steam”.Asha the Hope Center is equipped with On physiotherapists,One Occupational Therapist, One Speech Therapist, two special educators therapist and other support staffs to provide the services. It has also necessary equipment, which are relevant for providing the services. Children / people from economically weaker families will be given free services at the centre.JSPL Foundation is running a similar centre also known as ‘Asha – the Hope’ at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh since 2009. The centre addresses needs of the differently abled, irrespective of caste, creed, gender or socio-economic variance. Recently the Foundation had started a similar centre at Patratu in Jharkhand. Till date JSPL Foundation’s Asha the Hope Centres at Raigarh and Patratu have supported more than 4600 children / persons for rehabilitation and joining the social mainstream.Other dignitaries who were present in the inauguration ceremony are JSPL’s Chief Operating Officer Shri Pankaj Gautam, EVP & Group Head (CSR & Sustainability) Shri Prashant Kumar Hota, Vice President (CSR & R) Shri S K Sharama, VP & Head (HR&ES) Shri Alok Malhotra, General Manager (CSR) Smt.
