War in Ukraine: Centre’s rescue effort Operation Ganga becomes part of BJP’s UP poll pitch
The ongoing war in Ukraine has posed a diplomatic challenge for India as it tries to balance between Russia and friendly western countries. However the rescue operation launched by the government for stranded Indians in the conflict zone may boost the prospects of BJP, which is in the midst of a keenly contested election in Uttar Pradesh. 
On Sunday, when a plane full of students reached India after being evacuated successfully from Ukraine, they were welcomed by two union ministers, Scindia and V. Muralidharan.
Scindia addressed the group on the aircraft and highlighted how Prime Minister MODI and his government are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that all Indians are brought back home safely. 
Already Prime Minister Modi, on his part, has already chaired two high-level meetings on rescue operations.Also deputed four Union ministers to travel to countries neighbouring Ukraine and oversee the smooth evacuation of Indians.
The evacuation exercise is interestingly named – Operation Ganga – something that can easily resonate with the people of UP and also the rest of northern India.
PM highlights’ Operation Ganga’ in UP election speech. At an election rally in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister spoke at length about his government’s efforts to rescue the stranded Indians. 
In his speech in eastern UP on Sunday, PM mentioned that the times were very challenging and yet his government had stood by it’s citizens. ” Whenever required, we did not leave any stone unturned to bring back our citizens, sons and daughters, this time through Operation Ganga. He added that time has come to make the country stronger and self- sufficient.
BJP supporters have already highlighting Operation Ganga and the role being played by the Prime Minister in ensuring that all indians are rescued safely. Social media flooded with posts projecting india under Prime Minister’s leadership has the confidence of both Russia and Ukraine.Many pointed out that buses with indian flags were being allowed out of conflict areas.
Even as India is under tremendous pressure and tries to strike a balance, it has been tried to ensure that the government’s efforts in Ukraine work as an advantage on the political front.
The opposition Congress, meanwhile has questioned the government’s performance. 
Prime Minister Modi has over the years build an image of a strong global leader and the BJP has projected this successfully during elections. Examples are Balakot operation, Vande Bharat, Rahat, after which the BJP able to project these successfully during elections after each of the operations.
